New Dog

So for months Jase has been asking if we could get a dog.  We kept telling him that it had to wait until spring so that the dog could be outside.  Mean while dad is searching the internet looking for a dog.  Shane has always wanted a doberman, and one day he found a lady that had some dobermans that didn't live to far from us.  Shane came and asked if he could just call her and see how much, age, how soon they would be ready, etc...  So I said sure as long as we are just talking and asking questions.  Well the next thing I hear is "we will take it and pick it up on Saturday!"  I'm thinking what!!!  What happened to we are just going to talk to her.  Come to find out she only had one male dog left (male being Shane's preference) and 2 other people had already called on it and said that they would call back and let her know.
Shane arranged with the lady that he would pick the dog up early Saturday morning.  It was Thursday and we decided that we would tell Jase about the dog and that he could go with dad to pick the dog up but he would have to wake up early in order to go with dad to get the dog.  The next morning he was in our room at 5am telling dad that it was time to leave to get the dog.  We told him that they weren't leaving until the next morning and assured him that he could go with dad and then sent him back to bed.
As soon as Jase found out that we were getting a dog he asked dad if he could have some money in order to help pay for the dog.  Shane gave him a few quarters and from that moment he carried them around everywhere he went.  On Saturday morning Shane ended up having to wake Jase up and get him dressed and ready, and just as they were walking out the door Jase says "Wait dad, I need to go and get my money."  So they head off to the ladies house.  When they get there Shane and the lady were standing there talking about the dog and going over any questions that Shane had.  When out of the blue Jase pulls the money from his pocket and hands it to the lady.  She then looks at Shane and askes "what's this for?"  Shane told her to just take it and put it in her pocket, because that was Jase's share of paying for the dog.
I wasn't ready for a dog, but thinking about it know maybe it is a good thing that we got the dog now and not later so that we can get used to the dog first and have the baby come.  He is a cute thing.  His name is Achilles.  I told Shane that the dog is all his responsibility, because I already have more than I can handle.  So the dog will go to work with him.
